About the workshops

The workshops started by covering different ways of producing a story. We listened to 1Xtra, WNYC, UK and international podcasts to hear what is achievable with just a microphone and a strong idea. Each student learnt the basics and made their own pilot features.

In the second half of the course students produced their final features and benefited from dedicated contact time with the tutor. Ignite also invited professional producers and presenters to be guest tutors in order to reveal the secrets of good audio and give advice on working in the industry, including writing applications.

What is Mapping the Change?

Mapping the Change is a unique community heritage project established by Hackney Museum to capture the voices of East London's diverse communities in the run up to the London 2012 Games. With funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund, the aim is to create a lasting legacy for future generations to understand this exciting phase of East London’s History through photographic, digital media, text and audio-based recordings of the changes and local people’s responses to them.
